The Mexican Standoff
The Mexican Standoff is an all-female band that plays country ranchero and has brought together two different scenes in Los Angeles, the Latinx and the Country scenes. They captivate audiences with their fun border music and beautiful harmonies, and have headlined The Grand Ole Echo (Echoplex), opened up for Los Super Seven (Los Lobos, Texmaniacs, Gaby Moreno), supported a tour for Flor de Toloache, played “El Zócalo” in Mexico City, shows for Live Nation, and had their first national tour in the fall of 2023, among other performances.
The Mexican Standoff recently recorded an album with Flaco Jimenez and Los Texmaniacs, which was produced by Joe Treviño and is set to be released in 2024. Throughout the years, they have received glowing reviews from NPR Latino, KCRW and other media. Some of their music videos have gone viral, and they’ve been featured on major Spotify playlists.
The founders, Fernanda Ulibarri (composer for Frida Inmersiva, Julieta Vengas band member) and Alih Jey (Sony Music Songwriter, Latin Grammy nominee ), are successful music artists in their own right.
